Plan a route in Blekinge and Kalmarsund

In the Karlskrona archipelago Aspo and Tjaro are popular stops, and Hano stands alone as a rock island off the open sea. Kalmarsund runs in the lee of Oland, offering a calm route even when there is a sea outside.

The south means warmer water and a longer season than the Gulf of Bothnia, but also fewer islands for shelter at the southern end of Kalmarsund. Saaristo shows which harbour is sheltered in the prevailing wind.

The season starts earlier and lasts longer here than elsewhere in Sweden, and the water is clearly warmer in summer. Shallows at the northern end of Kalmarsund call for care, and rounding Oland is best timed for a calm spell. Saaristo shows shelter and services on both sides.
